Excerpt from Gifts of Sisterhood: Chapter 4

Take time for love and to read. It was her passion. She taught me to share acts of kindness that no one is aware of such as her reading to the children at the local library. It was not until the funeral that I learned there was a substantial fund at the library set up in her name, and that a memorial plaque would be done to say “thank you fine lady” for all your love and kindness to the children of this community. A “we appreciate you” memorial plaque for the many occasions she read unselfishly to the children, long after her boys had outgrown their days of her reading to them. The plaque has a place in the new library which will be constructed soon, another symbol of her spirit kept alive and her gift of love made visible. Quiet time at the library has become even more of a haven for me, a place of joy and comfort, and a time to celebrate my sister again.
